Bruna Della Torre received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Universidade de São Paulo, where she was also a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Literary Theory and Comparative Literature. In 2023, she was awarded a Horkheimer Fellowship at the Institut für Sozialforschung in Frankfurt. She was a visiting scholar at Duke University, Humboldt Universität, Akademie der Künst (Berlin) and Goethe Universität and a Lecturer at Universidade de Brasília. Bruna has teaching experience in higher education in literary theory and comparative literature, sociology, and philosophy. Her research focuses mainly on the Frankfurt School, Marxist theory, Feminist Studies, Fascism studies, Literary Criticism and Comparative Literature, and Latin American Critical Theory.
 

Bruna’s work appeared in Rethinking Marxism, Cultural Dynamics, Mediations: Journal of The Marxist Literary Group, Revista Chilena de Literatura, Latin American Perspectives, Meridional. Revista Chilena de Estudios Latinoamericanos, Pandaemonium Germanicum, among others. Her book Vanguarda do Atraso ou Atraso da Vanguarda? Oswald de Andrade e os teimosos destinos do Brasil. São Paulo, Alameda Editorial. [Backwardness of the Vanguard or Vanguard of the Backwardness? Oswald de Andrade and the Stubborn Destinies of Brazil] investigate Brazilian modernism, especially the aesthetic and political concept of “Anthropophagy” and its relation to peripheric societies.
Bruna is a member of the editorial committee of the journal Crítica Marxista (Brasil), where she served as executive editor from 2018 to 2023 and of Constelaciones. Revista de Teoría Crítica. At Capas, Bruna is a research associate and part of the editing team of the Jornaul Apocalyptica. Currently, she is researching the culture industry and its impact on politics and society.
