Every summer, CAPAS, together with the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science and Karlstorkino, invites you to the open-air edition of the Apocalyptic Cinema with films about (post-)apocalypses that are experienced on an individual, collective or global level. Admission is free - enjoy a film evening in the middle of the Neuenheimer Feld campus. Each film will be accompanied by a short academic commentary or a panel discussion by people with thematic expertise on the film. There will be an opportunity to ask questions from the audience.

A special highlight is the collaboration with the 73. IFFMH - International Film Festival Mannheim Heidelberg, which will present ROTER HIMMEL on 12 July. You will also be surprised how scientists classify the end-time scenarios in the films DIE WAND on 21 June and TIDES on 19 July.

Furthermore, thematic films on climate justice in connection with nuclear colonization in the Pacific will be shown this summer at the Karlstorkino on 24 and 28 June.

On 10 July, CAPAS will celebrate the premiere of the in-house documentary film IMAGINING END TIMES, which depicts Mexican apocalypses through time. It is part of the transdisciplinary joint exhibition ‘Imaginar El Fin de Los Tiempos’.
